Laser Clinic FAQ's
Your questions answered
Is Eternal Youth IPL safe?
Eternal Youth IPL is a safe, non-invasive treatment, with very few side effects and no “down time”. Eternal Youth is much gentler and faster than your conventional types of hair removal such as waxing, tweezing and shaving. It is considered much faster than laser hair removal because larger areas can be treated with each flash. How does it feel?
You will feel a slight sting similar to that of an elastic band snapping on the skin, any discomfort is momentary and will disappear immediately.
Are there any side effects?
Possible reddening or swelling around the hair follicle which may last up to a couple of hours and in some very rare cases a few days. There is nothing to worry about, as these are all indications that the treatment has been successful. The skin may also become slightly darker or lighter after treatment, but generally returns back to normal after a few weeks.
Can I have Eternal Youth IPL treatments?
Eternal Youth IPL can be carried out on most skin types (a thorough consultation will be carried out to determine whether the treatment is suitable for you).
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments does vary from person to person. A treatment program will be designed to your needs. You should expect an average of 3-8 treatments before saying goodbye to unwanted hair.
I still have hair growth after my first treatment, is that normal?
Our hair grows in a 3-stage cycle and only hair in the growing stage is successfully treated which is about 40%. This is why a course of treatments is required to successfully treat the hair in growing stage each time.
How does it improve my skin?
The signs of sun damage include patches of abnormal colour, irregular pigmentation, rough skin texture, broken capillaries, fine lines, flushing of the face, neck and chest area effect many people but now these conditions can be treated using Eternal Youth IPL.
How does it work on pigmented skin?
By releasing precise controlled strong pulses of light that are absorbed by the melanin in freckles, sunspots or liver spots. The pigmented area absorbs the light and is heated and removed by skin renewal. After treatment the pigmented area turns darker and eventually flakes off leaving little trace of the original mark. Continued sun exposure may result in recurrence of the original mark, sun block should be used to prevent this.
How does it work on ageing Skin?
It uses intense pulses of light over the face, which converts into heat energy when it reaches the collagen in the skin. This stimulates new collagen production and elastin fibres in the deeper layers of the skin, which improves firmness and overall texture and appearance of the skin without damaging the surface.
How does it work on thread veins and rosacea?
By sending very short pulses of light into the skin it destroys the vein using heat. The veins shrink over the following weeks and are re-absorbed by the body. Facial problems such as permanent red flushing, broken thread veins and red spots have proved most successful.
How does it work on acne?
It filters light that attacks the bacteria that creates acne. The light destroys the bacteria that live in the skin and cause acne, as well as targeting the overactive sebaceous gland that causes outbreaks of pustules. This heating of the skin causes shrinkage of the inflamed sebaceous glands and helps to prevent over production of sebum.
